Man arrested in killing of Alabama State student

Wikipedia

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a man accused of killing an Alabama State University student.

Montgomery police charged 23-year-old William Slater with murder in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Alexis Moss.

Slater was arrested Thursday in the death of Moss, who was shot to death last week in Montgomery.

News outlets report that an investigation found the shooting happened during an altercation that happened while a large group was gathered away from the Alabama State campus.

Moss died at a hospital, and a second female was treated for a gunshot wound.

Police haven't said what prompted the shooting, and court documents aren't available to show whether Slater has a lawyer.

Court records show he was free on bond after being charged in another shooting that injured one person last month.
