Mask requirements are up for debate before Alabama students return to school.

School systems and parents are both split on whether a mask mandate will protect the K-12 children or serve as an infringement on a personal decision.

The Alabama Department of Public Health has recommended masks to be required as case numbers of COVID-19 continue to rise. The state itself is not issuing a mandate, instead leaving it up to local school systems.
