LSU Tigers

  • It was well into the second quarter before Alabama scored its first touchdown against LSU. But, the Tide widened the gap during the remainder of the game as the team delivered its best defensive effort in Southeastern Conference play this season and beat LSU 20-9 on Saturday night, keeping the Tigers out of the end zone for the first time since the 2012 national championship game.
  • Number four ranked Alabama stumbled last November with a College Football Playoff spot within reach. The Crimson Tide lost at unranked Oklahoma and got left out of the postseason bracket. The setback still resonates with this year's team heading into Saturday's home game against regrouping LSU.
  • Auburn fired coach Hugh Freeze on Sunday, moving on after the Tigers lost for the 12th time in their last 15 Southeastern Conference games. This means the Crimson Tide will soon face two teams led by interim coaches after the LSU Tigers also fired Brian Kelly for a similar disappointing performance on the field.
  • Sports Minded host Brittany Young sits down with former basketball teammate Courtney Green, who's a two-time state champion and former MVP at Midfield High School. She was also honored as a McDonald's All-American nominee, Gatorade Player of the Year and Miss Basketball for the state of Alabama. Green went on to play college basketball at LSU and professionally in Portugal. Young and Green discuss Courtney's time as an athlete, her transition into entrepreneurship, marriage and motherhood, and how she's developed a passion for mentorship and mental health.
  • The Louisiana State University Tigers fired coach Brian Kelly following a blow-out loss to Texas A & M. That 49-25 walloping on Saturday dropped the Tigers out of the AP rankings. LSU’s second quarter lead was short-lived, as Texas A&M went on to outscore them 35-7 in the second half. That means the Crimson Tide may spend this weekend off wondering which LSU it will face when Alabama resumes play on November 8th. The Tigers’ running backs coach Frank Wilson will step in for Kelly.
  • The New York Jets parting with one of the team's popular captains in a salary cap move. This athlete played in just four games last season because of a toe injury and later a herniated disk in his neck. He was also a star of Nick Saban’s second national championship win at Alabama, when the Crimson Tide beat LSU in 2012. His performance was punctuated by a dislocated hip he suffered while returning an interception.
  • Alabama guard Mark Sears is getting family support on social media after spending the entire second half of the Crimson Tide's 80-73 win against LSU on the bench. His mom took to Facebook with two different posts.
  • Alabama’s mens basketball team chalked up another win. The difference was the Tide beat LSU with no help from star guard Mark Sears. The usual playmaker for Alabama was held scoreless for the first half of the game and sat out on the bench for the second half.
  • The National Football Foundation Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban was selected as part of the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame class. A seven-time national championship coach, Saban is the first of the 2025 class to be announced.
  • Alabama’s chances to make the first ever twelve team playoffs may have received a shot in the arm. The Crimson Tide are now ranked number nine in the AP Top twenty five after thrashing LSU in Death Valley forty two to thirteen.
