Summer is in full swing with many Alabamians cranking up the air conditioners and paying more for utility bills. Exposure to extreme heat is the leading cause of weather-related deaths, but it can also influence how much and what people want to eat.

Huntsville Animal Services is grappling with severe overcrowding due to a significant increase in stray pickups and litters of unwanted kittens and puppies. To help reduce overcrowding, adoption fees for most adult animals will be waived through the end of the month of June.
