A $5,000 reward is now being offered in the case of an Alabama woman who's been missing for a week.

Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama says it's offering the money for information about 29-year-old Paighton Lane Houston of Trussville.

Houston was last seen on Dec. 20 leaving the Tin Roof bar in Birmingham. Reports say she later sent a message to a friend saying she felt like she was in trouble.

She hasn't been in contact with her family since then, and calls to her cellphone are going straight to voicemail.

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Alabama authorities say they've wiped out a spate of toilet paper thefts by arresting a man accused of stealing dozens of rolls of bath tissue from a local market.

Trussville Police Detective Ben Short tells news outlets 50-year-old Ira Glover led officers on a short chase before they arrested him Tuesday.

Police say Glover was caught on security video swiping dozens of rolls of toilet paper from a pallet last week before attempting another theft Tuesday. Investigators think he's been trying to refill his janitorial business' supply.

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — A Cub Scout volunteer has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting he sexually abused a child at a scouting event in Trussville, Alabama.

Al.com reports 23-year-old Justin Aaron Conn pleaded guilty on Monday to first-degree sodomy. An indictment accused him of sodomizing a 10-year-old boy and forcing him to perform oral sex during a June 2017 campout at a Methodist church facility.

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Authorities have filed a capital murder charge in the slaying of an Alabama man who was shot to death during a parking lot confrontation.

Police in the Birmingham suburb of Trussville say 22-year-old Bryan Patrick Hancock of Pinson is being held without bail in the killing of 40-year-old Randy Young.

Young died Saturday, two days after he was shot in the head outside a Cracker Barrel restaurant.

Police say an argument occurred after Hancock parked in a way that blocked Young's vehicle.

Dozens of Dogs Rescued from Puppy Mill

Authorities say dozens of dogs were recently rescued from a reported puppy mill in central Alabama.

Trussville police Lt. Phil Dillon tells AL.com that last week, officers were called to a home where they found numerous dogs both inside and outside living in unsanitary conditions. Dillon says the owners of the home operated a business selling both puppies and parakeets.
