FSU Seminoles

  • Alabama hasn't looked the same since coach Nick Saban's retirement. It raises speculation about the future of his replacement, Kalen DeBoer. The eighth-ranked Crimson Tide have dropped three of their last four games following a 31-17 loss at Florida State on Saturday, a game in which the Seminoles bullied Alabama on both sides of the ball.
  • New quarterback Tommy Castellanos led a punishing rushing attack for Florida State with 78 yards and a touchdown as the Seminoles stunned No. 8 Alabama 31-17 on Saturday, ending the Crimson Tide's streak of 23 straight wins in season openers.
  • Number eight ranked Alabama might be without starting guard Jaeden Roberts for its season opener at Florida State on Saturday. The latest from head coach Kalen DeBoer is that Roberts is still in a concussion protocol. Roberts, a fifth-year senior who has started 21 games over the past two seasons, missed the last two weeks of practice.
  • One Alabama linebacker knows he only has one chance remaining. This player is entering his fifth and final college season, a last ride with the eighth-ranked Crimson Tide that means even more after what he endured last November. Lawson tore a ligament in his knee in a loss to Oklahoma and has spent every waking moment since working his way back.
  • Number eight ranked Alabama has named Ty Simpson its starting quarterback heading into the team’s season opener at Florida State. Coach Kalen DeBoer told Simpson along with fellow QBs Austin Mack and Keelon Russell before sharing the news with the team Monday.
  • Tommy Castellanos moved on from Boston College to Florida State for a crack at beating national power Alabama in the season opener. He’s one of several high profile college quarterbacks who used the transfer portal to switch teams before the start of the 2025 season.
