Young artists in grades 4-5 work in a variety of mediums such as paint, clay, charcoal, and ink. They will practice and expand on their skills in drawing, color theory, art history, studio maintenance, and how to formally evaluate their own artwork and the artwork of others.

Mobile Vocal Arts – an intergenerational Choral Society opportunity offered to the residents of Mobile and Baldwin Counties – is beginning its 27th season on Monday, August 18th, 2025.
This choral organization has given performances in Carnegie Hall and in European capitals on several occasions. Membership in the Choral Society is open to all interested individuals who love to sing and who are open to performing a wide range/variety of music genre/concerts. There is NO membership fee.
Rehearsals are held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church located at 1050 Azalea Road in Mobile. Rehearsals begin at 7:00 p.m. Mobile Vocal Arts prepares and presents approximately – five to six concerts in their ten and a half-month season that begins in late August and runs to late June.

Young artists in grades 2-3 explore a variety of artistic mediums, practice creative thinking and problem solving, develop new tools for self-expression, and, most importantly, have fun making art! Our teaching artist will guide young artists through projects tailored to their age and skill levels to help them develop as artists and build important creative skills.

Student Orientation Session for incoming students: We will review all the essential information to ensure a successful start, including Academic policies, Attendance requirements, Dress Code and our digital Learning Management System. You will also get a guided tour of the campus and classrooms to help you find your way around, alongside dedicated support to set up your new laptop. We look forward to sharing some fun moments together as well!

Opened in 2014, the Ross Medical Education Center Huntsville campus is located just off of Research Park Blvd across from Madison Square Mall. The campus is also situated right off University Drive in the hub of several shopping centers including Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy and just five minutes from Bridge Street Town Centre.

Young artists in grades 6-8 continue to improve upon their art-making skills with a focus on foundations and conceptual thinking.

Young artists who wish to apply to the Alabama School of Fine Arts will receive guidance during the application process including portfolio review and development.

All skill levels are welcome.

City Center Art for high school students is a rigorous multi-media art class with a balance of foundations/essential skills and independent projects. With guidance from the teaching artist, students will increase their observational drawing skills, further their technical control of various mediums and develop and execute individually conceived projects to further their technical control of various mediums and strengthen their conceptual skills.

In addition, students will learn about art-related careers and opportunities. Juniors and seniors receive guidance for college applications and essays while building visual arts portfolios to increase college opportunities.

All skill levels are welcome.

CCT Presents the musical Come From Away opening Sept. 10
Moments after the World Trade Center disaster on September 11, 2001, U.S. airspace was closed. Planes on lengthy flights didn’t have enough fuel to get back where they started from. One after another 38 planes were diverted to a remote air base in Gander, Newfoundland. Everyone was mystified; everyone was terrified. Nobody knew what was going on. And they were stuck on the planes.
How do you make a musical about that?
When the world seemed darkest, the people of Gander took those 7,000 strangers under their wings — with a place to stay and plenty to eat, medicine, clothing and comfort. Even the pets were rescued from luggage holds and taken to shelter.
Come From Away tells the remarkable stories of the stranded passengers and the warm-hearted Gander residents.
The ensemble cast brings to life the mayor of Gander, the pilot who followed her childhood dream, the young woman whose first day as a news reporter was September 11, the Middle Eastern passenger, the New York mom trying desperately to reach her firefighter son and many more.
Mike Box directs this Tony Award-winning musical by Irene Sankoff and David Hein.
Cast members include John Hutchinson, Justin Gipson, Lesley Anne Roberts, Malinda Powers, Candan Alexandria Sarp, Steven Alsip, Kat Hewitt, Zach Petrie, Jennifer Poole Precht, Shadoe Valentin, Xavier Johnson and Melissa Laster.
Greg Wiggins is music director and Jacqueline Bodet Stepan is choreographer.
Come From Away will be presented for two four-day weekends, opening Thursday, September 10, and closing Sunday, September 20. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at 2:30 p.m. Sundays.

The Mobile Arts Council is delighted to present our September artists, Gary Brady and Ginger Woechan!
Gary Brady is a contemporary realist painter originating from right here in Mobile. Inspired by the places he has lived and traveled, as well as the people and cultures that influenced his evolution, Brady’s paintings are rich with influence. Drawing his creative lens from the landscapes, cultures, and communities from the Gulf Coast and beyond, each environment leaves a visual imprint on his work. His ability to absorb and reinterpret these experiences allows him to create compositions that feel immersive—capturing not just a subject, but the atmosphere and energy surrounding it. Ginger Woechan is a professional artist, art instructor and therapist, muralist, live painter and contemporary artist, reiki practitioner, and the dancing queen of Mobile. Having grown up around her artist mother and great grandfather, Ginger has always felt like she was raised to be an artist. Her style is heavily influenced by the Impressionist movement, specifically Van Gogh. Throughout her inner quest, Ginger has found herself always painting and loving Mobile. Mobile has shown her a lot of love that has lit the way, for which she is forever grateful. Her exhibition, So Mobile, is a visual manifestation of that love.
And Ginger is bringing even more celebration to her exhibition opening! During ArtWalk on September 11th, Ginger will host a second line beginning at her Mobile mural next to Hayley’s and making its way to the Mobile Arts Council Gallery @ Room 1927, accompanied by the extraordinary Excelsior Band in a special tribute to Dolly Parton. Come join us in the streets as we celebrate Ginger, Mobile, art, music, and all the things that make this city so special!
